The New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) released a new report detailing systemic discrimination against transgender and gender non-conforming people across the city. Compared to the general New York City population, they are five times more likely to be unemployed, and among those with college degrees, more than four times more likely to be making less than $30,000 a year, the report found.

Panelists Noah E. Lewis, Esq., the founder and Executive Director of Transcend Legal, Ezra Cukor, Esq., Supervising Attorney at the New York City Commission on Human Rights, and Jillian Weiss, Esq., the principal of Weiss Law, a boutique employment law firm, and Of Counsel to Outten & Golden, will discuss redefinitions of gender, critical and compassionate deployment of language in client interactions and pleadings, manifestations of anti-trans discrimination in the workplace and strategies for legal challenges.
