Cecilia Gentili

Bio

Ms. Gentili currently serves as the Assistant Director of Public Affairs at GMHC, the world’s first and leading provider of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy. Originally from Argentina, Ms. Gentili started working as an intern at the LGBT Center in New York City where she found her passion for advocacy and services. She went on to run the Transgender Health Program at Apicha CHC from 2012 to 2016. She is also a contributor to Trans Bodies, Trans Selves: A Resource for the Transgender Community, and is a collaborator with Translatina Network.

For fun, she acts and loves doing storytelling events where she talks about her life experiences. She is very passionate about advocating for her community, especially transgender women with a Latino background and a history of sex work, drug use and incarceration.

Ida E. Hammer, LMSW

Bio

Ms. Hammer is a social worker with the Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery. Her professional and advocacy career has focused on supporting the rights and well-being of women, transgender, and LGBQ people and their communities. She was previously a Senior Counselor with STEPS to End Family Violence, a division of Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families, where she worked with people being prosecuted in Midtown Community Court's Human Trafficking Intervention Court. Prior to that she was a Peer Health Navigator for transgender women at the Center for HIV Educational Studies & Training (CHEST).

Ms. Hammer has worked to make transgender healthcare more accessible by successfully challenging exclusions to medically necessary care, and has been recognized for her advocacy work raising awareness of how violence affects the lives of transgender women. She was named as one of the inaugural The Trans 100 in 2013 and was awarded the 2014 Barbara Gittings Award by the Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists. Ms. Hammer has a B.S. in journalism from Utah State University and earned her MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.

Noah E. Lewis

Noah E. Lewis, Esq. is the founder and executive director of Transcend Legal, a national, New York City-based organization cultivating equitable social, medical and legal recognition of transgender people, one person at a time.

Noah previously worked for the Transgender Law Center, the National LGBTQ Task Force, and served as the staff attorney at Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund for five years. His work there included leading-edge impact litigation and policy work in areas such as identity documents, health care and public accommodations. He went on to create and run a solo law practice serving transgender clients.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Noah is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and was the first openly transgender student to graduate from Harvard Law School. There he worked successfully to eliminate trans health exclusions in student and staff health plans.
